A car drops into a collapsed road damaged due to massive earthquake in Tohoku Town, Aomori Prefecture on December 9, 2025. The magnitude 7.5 earthquake struck off the northeastern coast of Aomori Prefecture at 11:15 p.m. on December 8th. The Tsunami warning has been issued for Aomori, Iwate and Hokkaido Prefectures, to announce evacuation on the same day. Although the Japan Meteorological Agency lifted its tsunami advisory at 6:20 a.m. on Dec. 9th, its official issues subsequent earthquake advisory and urge an alert for potentially larger ones.
