The single-engine aircraft went down near Big Mountain, about 15 miles west of Sheridan, in remote terrain above 8,200 feet. A medical service helicopter located the wreckage.
Quick Response Amid Rugged Terrain
Rescue teams established a command post along U.S. Highway 14 and deployed air operations to reach the crash site. Two survivors—a 54-year-old man and a 53-year-old woman—were flown to a hospital in Billings, Montana. A third survivor, an 11-year-old boy, was airlifted to a hospital in Sheridan.
Authorities confirmed the girl is deceased, and foul play is not suspected. The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the cause.
