2025 Atlantic Tropical Weather Season to End with No U.S. Landfalls

1 hour agoWith no tropical weather on the horizon, forecasters are certain that the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season will come to an end with no direct U.S. hurricane landfalls. Here is a look back at the 2025 tropical weather season across the Atlantic basin.
U.S. Escapes Major Tropical Weather Impacts in 2025
The 2025 Atlantic hurricane season produced 13 named storms, including five hurricanes. The season is coming to an end as the first in a decade without a single hurricane strike on the mainland U.S. The Atlantic season officially ends on November 30.
The U.S. was able to dodge the direct impacts thanks to a combination of the timing of the cold fronts across the East Coast and several atmospheric conditions that worked to push away the major storms. The season was a much-needed break after the 2024 season, a year that brought monsters such as Helene and Milton. In fact, the U.S. has notched 17 hurricane landfalls over the past five years, making this year's drought even more notable.
Tropical Storm Chantal was distinguished as the only named storm to come ashore in the U.S. this year. Chantal made landfall near Litchfield Beach, South Carolina, over the Fourth of July weekend. The storm packed maximum sustained winds of 60 mph and torrential rainfall. Six fatalities were blamed on Chantal as it churned inland into the Carolinas.
