While it will not be the blockbuster storm that roared up and down the East Coast this week, another weather system is set to bring a narrower zone of snow across the Ohio Valley and the mid-Atlantic by the middle of the week. Read on for more details about the timing and potential impacts of this latest winter weather maker.

New Winter Storm Building Across Parts of Central and Eastern U.S.

Another wave of snow is setting up to unleash across parts of the central U.S. to the East Coast this week. The midweek system will bring into February the same weather pattern that plagued the eastern half of the country over the second half of January.

It has been a rough two or three weeks for much of the eastern U.S., with snow and ice expanding all the way into the Deep South and Florida. That last full weekend of January saw a major cross-country storm that unleashed heavy snow and deadly ice across more than two dozen states. This past weekend was marked by a bomb cyclone that blanketed parts of North Carolina with over a foot of snow.

This wintry pattern is going to continue to impact portions of the central and eastern U.S. over the middle of this week. The energy associated with this storm is expected to meet the cold air currently in place over western Tennessee on Tuesday, fueling the development of snow as it moves toward the coastline on Wednesday.
