Blustery Conditions on the Horizon for the Northeast and Beyond

Windy Weather on Deck for the Upper Midwest and the Northeast Beginning Wednesday
A series of quick-hitting storms is driving the weather pattern across the Upper Midwest, the Great Lakes, and the Northeast this week. The strongest of these storms is set to hit on Wednesday and Thursday, erasing the warm temperatures and kicking up the winds. Gusty conditions featuring winds of up to 60 mph will disrupt travel and raise the risk of power outages. Any remaining leaves still clinging to the trees have also likely seen their last days.
Winds are forecast to intensify on the leading edge of the storm, sending the temperatures to unseasonably warm levels on the front end. The warm readings will stretch from southern New England and down into North Carolina. You can expect a high of about 67 degrees in New York City on Wednesday under partly cloudy skies. The forecast is calling for winds out of the southwest at 10 to 20 mph during the day to pick up speed and hit 20 to 30 mph overnight in the Big Apple.
It will be even warmer to the south. Washington, D.C. will enjoy temperatures in the low to mid 70s on Wednesday prior to the arrival of the cooler air.
This storm is not expected to be a widespread moisture producer. However, you cannot rule out some wind-swept rain showers for some areas of the Northeast in the days ahead.
