A swift storm is going to push through California with ferocity beginning Wednesday night, ushering rain and snowfall measured in feet to some areas. The brief but powerful storm is expected to result in widespread travel disruptions to the Golden State and beyond. Here is the latest on this upcoming weather event.

Storm to Unleash Rain and Snow Across California

A volatile storm system is forecast to come in from the Pacific Ocean on Wednesday and Thursday, impacting California and other areas of the western U.S. The unseasonal warmth will remain in place until the storm arrives. However, forecasters are warning that conditions will deteriorate quickly once the weather maker pushes ashore.

The mercury will take a tumble once the storm becomes more entrenched across California. Accumulating snowfall is in the forecast for the top terrains of the Sierra Nevada. The range's top peaks and ridges over 8,000 feet are expected to pick up a couple of feet of snow out of this system. High winds will raise the threat of blizzard conditions.
