One last storm is on deck for California before a drier weather pattern will finally settle in over the battered region. Read on for the details of this latest weather maker.

California Prepares for One Last Blast of Moisture

The Golden State has been caught in the crosshairs of a persistent storm train coming out of the Pacific Ocean. While drier weather is on the horizon, the state will have to deal with one last push of rain and mountain snow. The last storm in the series will move to the south across California late this week, delivering another round of rain and mountain snow to much of the western U.S.

It has already been a challenging week for the weather in California. Several waves of moisture have pushed across the state, resulting in a month's worth of rain in some areas. The heaviest rainfall bands with the last storm will target Southern California. Forecasters are predicting that most parts of this region can expect 0.50 to 1 inch of rain. Locally higher amounts are likely in the mountainous terrain.

Although the final gasp will not eclipse the precipitation totals that were notched over the weekend, it will still be enough to disrupt travel on the roads and in the air. The compounding effect of the moisture will also make steep hillsides vulnerable to collapse as they become less stable with every rain event.
