The exceptionally wet weather pattern is set to linger heading into the new week across California, bringing heavy rain to the lower elevations and snow to the Sierra Nevada. The persistent rain will also aggravate flooding concerns in the already saturated state.

Here is what you need to know about this soggy forecast.

Secondary Weekend Storm System Tracks Into California on Sunday

Residents along the West Coast cannot catch a break from the wet conditions that are forecast to hang on through at least Wednesday. Several storm systems have come onshore from the Pacific in recent weeks, saturating the grounds and causing flooding issues.

The first weekend storm focused its impacts on the northwestern corner of California and into southwestern Oregon.

By late Sunday, another storm is anticipated to bring more widespread impacts as it dips farther to the south than its early weekend predecessor. Included in the potential impact zone of the secondary storm are the populated areas surrounding Los Angeles and San Diego.
