Coastal Storm to Dump Rain from the Mid-Atlantic and Up Into New England

The Northeast is in for a major weather pattern shift next week as the wet conditions at the end of the Thanksgiving holiday weekend give way to colder temperatures and the chance of snow in the coming week. Here is what you need to know about this wintry forecast for this corner of the U.S.

Wet Weather Pattern Major Shift from November Dryness

The upcoming wet weather will be a stark difference from the dry pattern that distinguished the month of November.

Major metropolitan areas in the region, including Philadelphia and New York City, recorded less than a 0.10 of an inch of rain over the first two-thirds of the month, coming in at well below the norm for this time of the fall season.

The lack of moisture sent some parts of Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania into the designation of a moderate drought as defined by the U.S. Drought Monitor.
