Coyote Fire Rages in El Dorado County, Prompting Evacuations and Air-Ground Response

Last weekA fast-moving wildfire dubbed the Coyote Fire ignited Wednesday afternoon near Coyoteville Lane and Cedar Creek Road in remote, rugged terrain of El Dorado County, Northern California. The blaze has rapidly grown to approximately 624 acres, with just 5% containment as of Thursday afternoon.
Firefighting Efforts Underway
More than 1,250 firefighters from multiple agencies are battling the blaze from both the ground and air. Night-flying helicopters have been dropping water while crews deal with spot fires and burning pockets of timber.
Evacuation Warnings Issued
Evacuation warnings are in place for residents from Omo Ranch Road south to Farnham Ridge Road. Authorities are urging early evacuation for those with pets or livestock, especially given the region’s difficult terrain and limited accessibility.
