A multi-day storm event will persist through the Easter weekend for a large part of the central U.S., ushering in the threat of dangerous wind speeds, hail, heavy rain, and isolated tornadoes. Here is a closer look at the expected timing and impacts associated with this unsettled weather pattern.

Midwest, Plains, and Great Lakes Bracing for Late-Week Storm Activity

Late-Week Storm Pattern Locks In Across the Central U.S. NOAA

The nation's heartland will continue to be under the umbrella of potential severe weather for the next several days. A series of storm events will push down from the southern Rockies, across the Plains, and into the Great Lakes through the Easter holiday. Although a large tornado outbreak is not in the forecast, meteorologists caution that all it takes is one twister to result in loss of life and property. Additionally, the dangers will be amplified within storms that ignite under the cover of darkness.

The highest severe weather threat on Thursday is focused on parts of the Midwest and western Great Lakes, where damaging winds, large hail, and isolated tornadoes are possible. (NOAA/SPC)
