The Western U.S. has been grappling with extreme temperatures in the triple digits and dry conditions. This can be the perfect storm for wildfire season.

Wildfire season peaks during the hot summer months and can be heavily influenced by drought, high temperatures, and low humidity.

The current Dragon Bravo fire burning through hundreds of thousands of acres in Arizona was first sparked by lightning on July 4th. It's grown to be the 7th largest wildfire in Arizona history and the largest wildfire in the continental United States.

On Sunday, the Dragon Bravo fire surpassed the 2020 Bighorn Fire that burned 119,541 acres, and the 2004 Willow Fire that burned 119, 500 acres, both of which were at the bottom of Arizona's top 10 biggest wildfires. As of August 5th, it also surpassed the 2019 Woodbury Fire that burned 123,875 acres.
