Just when you think that Old Man Winter is gone until next year, a new storm is waiting in the wings, threatening to bring measurable snow to a large swath of the Northeast. Here is a look at what factors have to be in place for this storm to deliver significant snow, as well as when you can expect the flakes to fly.

Potential of Weekend Snowstorm for the Northeast Coming Into Focus

The most populated urban areas in the Northeast could get caught up in a major snow event by the end of the weekend, should all of the weather elements align. A weather maker that is still off the coast of British Columbia, Canada, could be the impetus for another snowstorm barreling toward the Interstate 95 corridor.

As of late Tuesday, this menacing storm was still spinning in the eastern Pacific. The latest forecast models predict that this storm will journey to the south across California on Thursday, bringing more rain and snow to the battered Golden State.
