5 days agoThe Farmers’ Almanac, a publication dating back to 1818, has released its long-range winter outlook for 2025-2026, predicting a season defined by dramatic temperature swings and widespread precipitation. The upcoming winter has been dubbed “chill, snow, repeat.”
Early Cold and Snow
Although meteorological winter begins December 1, the almanac suggests that some areas could see early cold and snow as soon as fall. The Northern Plains through New England are expected to experience colder-than-average temperatures, while the Pacific Northwest could also face an unusually chilly season. Meanwhile, heavy snow is anticipated from the Ohio Valley through New England, making for an active winter for residents in these regions.
Mid-Winter Cold Snaps
Forecasters highlight mid-January and mid-February as periods for pronounced cold snaps across much of the U.S. These events could create classic winter wonderland conditions across the Great Lakes, Ohio Valley, and North Central states, with snow accumulations and icy conditions impacting daily life.
