First Major Fall Storm to Bring Snow to the Rockies
The first volatile storm of the fall season is going to usher in heavy rain, severe thunderstorms, and even a bit of snow to the Rockies and northern Plains over the next few days. The large storm system will impact a number of different terrains, translating to a wide array of elements.
Storms are not typically this strong so early in the fall season. Forecasters warn that the system's power could catch people off guard as it moves from the Rockies into the Plains throughout the weekend.
Cooler temperatures will be the initial sign that a change is in the air. The same system that brought rain to the West Coast early in the week is now moving into the interior portions of the western U.S. Cold air dipping down from Canada will support the development of snow across the top terrains of the Rockies.
