Latest on Devastating Flooding Situation Across Western Washington
A pair of atmospheric rivers has dumped months' worth of rain in a period of a few days across western Washington this week. The historic flooding event has left several communities completely underwater, forcing the evacuation of thousands of residents. While the moisture machine finally turned off late Thursday, the flooding threat will remain in place as rivers rise and reach record high levels.
As much as a foot and a half of rain was recorded over the last few days in western Washington. Multiple rivers in the region were pushed to major flood stage, overflowing their banks and sending water roaring into low-lying areas. While some of the rivers have begun to recede, the chance of flooding and mudslides will keep residents on guard through the weekend.
