Forecasters Warn Tornadoes Could Strike After Dark Across Central U.S.

1 hour agoA dangerous stretch of severe weather is expected to continue across the central United States through early next week, and meteorologists say one of the biggest concerns is the growing threat of nocturnal tornadoes.
Unlike daytime tornadoes, overnight tornadoes are especially dangerous because they often form while people are asleep, reducing response times and increasing the risk of injuries and fatalities.
Forecasters from the NOAA Storm Prediction Center are warning that conditions across parts of the Plains and Midwest could support multiple rounds of severe thunderstorms capable of producing tornadoes, giant hail, and damaging winds after dark.
The threat stretches from portions of Texas and Oklahoma northward into Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota, and parts of the Upper Midwest.
