Heat Wave Breaks Over 2,800 Temperature Records Across America

10 hours agoLast week's brutal heat wave absolutely destroyed temperature records across the country, setting over 2,800 new highs and leaving some places dealing with their hottest June weather ever recorded.
The numbers are staggering - 955 daily high temperature records got tied or broken, along with 1,899 daily high minimum records for warm nights. These records date back to the 1800s, and this early summer heat wave just smashed through them.
Temperatures blew past 100 degrees, air conditioners ran nonstop, and cities had to open cooling centers just to keep people from getting sick from the heat.
