The first snow of the new season is predicted to fall across the higher terrains of the West in the days ahead. Meanwhile, the lower elevations will see heavy rain and the threat of flooding. A massive storm rolling in from the Pacific Ocean will usher in this influx of moisture for Oregon and California.

Rain began to fall in Oregon and Northern California just in time for the Monday morning commute. The line of moisture will continue to expand on Tuesday as the storm creeps to the south along the Pacific coastline. Residents of the Bay Area were dodging rain showers on the Monday evening commute. The forecast is calling for widespread rainfall accumulations of 1 to 2 inches in California by the end of the day Tuesday.
