Another round of severe weather claimed a life in Kansas on Tuesday evening. More storms are on deck for Wednesday and Thursday in this part of the nation.

Kansas Tornado Kills One Person

One person died and three more people were injured as a result of a tornado strike in the town of Westmoreland in northeastern Kansas. A spokesperson for Pottawatomie County said that officials are still trying to identify the next of kin of the deceased person. The three injured people did not require hospitalization.

The town of about 750 residents was struck by the tornado at about 4:50 pm, according to data from the National Water Service (NWS). The bulk of the damage happened in the north part of the town.

At least 22 homes were destroyed with another 13 homes and businesses sustaining damage. City officials instituted a curfew at 9:30 pm Tuesday so that they could deal with the destruction.

Power was also knocked out in the town that is located about 60 miles to the northeast of the capital city of Topeka.
