The active weather pattern is coming to an end in California by the weekend. However, forecasters are warning that the arrival of Santa Ana winds early next week will raise the threat of wildfires. Here is a look at what you can expect across California and the West in the days ahead.

Train Storm Caboose Bearing Down on California

One more shot of rain and mountain snow is taking aim at Southern California through the end of the week. It has been a soggy and volatile stretch of days for much of the Golden State, thanks to the eruption of the typical Pacific storm train that is common this time of the year. Some areas of Southern California have picked up a month's worth of rain over the last week.

Unfortunately for those tired of the rain, one last powerful storm is roaring into California at the end of the week. The moisture associated with this storm will increase the threat of flash flooding and landslides once more. This threat will be elevated in areas that have seen a thorough soaking from the last several days.

NOAA’s 48-hour precipitation outlook highlights heavy rainfall potential across Southern California, the Sierra Nevada, and parts of the Southwest as the final storm in the Pacific storm train arrives. (NOAA/WPC)
