3 hours agoHalloween is one day of the year when the weather can make or break the festivities. Will this year's forecast serve up tricks or treats? The short answer is that it depends on which part of the country you will be celebrating. While some areas will enjoy pleasant conditions relative to the end of October, other portions of the U.S. will be dodging rain and fighting off cold temperatures. Here is a look at the forecast for the big day.
Mixed Bag of Weather in the Western U.S.
Halloween is here. But what will the weather have in store for all of those little ghosts and goblins? Those in the Pacific Northwest will want to pay close attention to the hourly forecast in their specific area. A new storm system is forecast to come ashore from the Pacific Ocean on Friday. The precise timing of the storm will be critical in determining how dry Halloween remains. For example, places like Seattle could see the rain hold off until later in the day.
Winds will also pick up speed throughout the day on Friday, moving farther inland as the hours progress. These winds will begin to dissipate as the weekend marches on.
While the Pacific Northwest grapples with rain and wind, it will be mostly pleasant for the Desert Southwest and the Rockies. It will be a lovely day in Phoenix with mostly sunny skies and temperatures that climb into the upper 80s. Temperatures will drop to about 60 degrees overnight with light and variable winds.
Moving into the interior portions of the West, trick-or-treaters in Colorado, Wyoming, and Utah will see seasonable temperatures in the afternoon begin to fall quickly once the sun goes down. Temperatures will slide into the 40s across much of this region, meaning that you will want to dress warmly for all of those outdoor festivities.
