Thanksgiving travel may be a mess next week, thanks to a storm that is forecast to affect the eastern two-thirds of the nation. The storm is predicted to hit during the busy travel period ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday. Here is what you need to know if you have travel plans next week.

Major Storm Event Could Snarl Travel Ahead of Thanksgiving

Millions of Americans traveling away from home for Thanksgiving next week will be at the mercy of Mother Nature. A major storm system pushing up from the Desert Southwest is forecast to bring heavy rain and the threat of severe storms to the southern, central, and eastern U.S.

According to the American Automobile Association (AAA), a record-breaking 81.8 million people are expected to travel at least 50 miles from home during Thanksgiving week. The same storm that is generating heavy rain and mountain snow in California to end this week will continue to track to the east through the weekend.
