The latest long-range forecast models are signaling that another major severe weather outbreak powerful enough to generate tornadoes is on the horizon for some areas of the Plains.

These storms are forecast to spin up on Monday in the same part of the nation that saw the brunt of the late April tornado outbreak.

Here is a deeper dive into what the models are telling meteorologists.

Long-Range Forecast Points to Significant Severe Weather Outbreak on Monday

It could be a rough start to the beginning of the work week for those in the central Plains. The atmosphere is gearing up to produce more widespread severe weather as early as next week.

The likely target zone is the same portion of the Great Plains that is currently dealing with the cleanup from the last deadly weather maker.

It will be a relatively calm weekend for the Plains with just isolated rain showers and storms.

However, that will all change as a storm that is currently pushing into the western U.S. after coming together in the Pacific Ocean crosses over the Rocky Mountains and feeds on the moisture streaming up from the Gulf of Mexico to intensify further.
