A rare October nor'easter is targeting the East Coast. What will this development mean for the weekend weather? Read on for the details about the timing, track, and intensity of this volatile storm.

East Coast Braces for Major Storm Event This Weekend

A coastal storm is setting up to send a deluge of rain, wind, and erosive surf conditions across much of the East Coast. While the storm is coming together as a tropical wind and rainstorm originating in the warm waters of the Atlantic, meteorologists say that the event most closely resembles a typical nor'easter.

There is still time for the storm brewing off the coast of Georgia to evolve into the next named storm of the Atlantic hurricane season. However, it is more likely that this storm will turn into a garden-variety nor'easter that churns up the coastline.

The latest forecast models indicate that the storm will track to the north throughout the weekend and into early next week, growing stronger with each passing day. The impacts will include rough seas, erosive surf, heavy rain, coastal flooding, and gusty conditions. The timing of the storm coming at the end of the king tide event will translate to a higher threat of coastal impacts.
