There is no rest for the winter storm-weary in the Midwest. Another blizzard is threatening to impact the region by the end of the week, bringing at least a dozen states into the mix with heavy snow, blinding winds, and dangerously cold temperatures.

Here is a look at what you need to prepare for in the coming days if you live in the nation's heartland.

Central Plains and Great Lakes All Take Brunt of Winter Storm

A major winter weather maker is going to bring travel to a halt and disrupt life in many facets across the Midwest. Now is the time to finish your preparations for this storm that is set to affect an area from the central Plains and up into the Great Lakes on Friday and Saturday.

The impacts of this storm will include bitterly cold temperatures, significant snowfall accumulation, powerful winds, and blowing and drifting snow. When can you expect these conditions to kick up?

A weak disturbance will bring minimal impacts such as snow flurries on Thursday, however, this will just be a sign of what is to come by the weekend.

It will feel like deja vu for many residents of the central U.S. This is the same part of the country that experienced substantial snowfall on Monday and Tuesday.

The latest weather maker is currently wreaking havoc across the interior West on its way to the Midwest.

This storm in the West is forecast to move into the southern Plains before turning to the north late Thursday and into Friday. It is at this juncture that it will meet with the mass of Arctic air coming down from Canada, setting the stage for a massive winter storm to develop.
