The moisture machine is going to fire back up across California and the West to start the new work week. The latest storm event will usher in more rain, the threat of thunderstorms, and mountain snow. Read on for the details of the impending weather maker coming in from the Pacific.

New Week, New Storm for California and the West

Weather conditions are about to get dicey again in the West following the relatively uneventful weekend. A new storm is going to spread rain, snow, and gusty winds across California and into parts of Washington, Oregon, Nevada, Utah, and Idaho. Although the latest system will inevitably result in impacts to outdoor plans over the next few days, the additional moisture will provide a much-needed boost to snowpack levels.

The updated forecast models signal that the storm will arrive in California on Monday, lingering for a few days before moving to the east. Slick travel conditions could be an issue for motorists, particularly in the higher terrains. Ponding on roadways in the northern and central portions of California may also cause disruptions for travelers.

While the incoming event will not pack as strong a punch as some of the prior storms this year, every little bit of additional moisture helps with the dry season quickly approaching. Forecasters are predicting that the early-week storm will bring a general half-inch to 1.50 inches of rain to much of Northern and Central California.
