A widespread severe weather outbreak is sweeping from the Plains to the East Coast this week, bringing the threat of tornadoes, destructive wind, large hail, and travel disruptions across dozens of states. NOAA

The devastating severe weather outbreak that began on Tuesday is forecast to persist through at least Thursday across dozens of states. Hundreds of severe storm cells are expected to roam a large swath of land from the Plains to the Atlantic Seaboard this week, ushering in the threat of destructive hail, high winds, and tornadoes. Here is the latest on this developing situation.

More Severe Weather on the Way After Tuesday's Deadly Outbreak

Preliminary storm reports from Tuesday show dozens of tornado, wind, and hail reports scattered from Texas into the Midwest, underscoring how destructive the outbreak had already become before the next round arrived. NOAA

Residents across Indiana, Illinois, and Texas have been digging through the rubble left behind from Tuesday's severe outbreak. Tornadoes were reported in each of these three states as strong storms roared through a slice of land from Texas and into the Midwest.

Two fatalities have been attributed to a tornado that carved a path through Lake Village, Indiana. Lake Township Fire Department Public Information Officer Laurie Postma confirmed the deaths during a press conference on Wednesday morning. Local officials also confirmed that the local Family Dollar store was destroyed.
