More clipper storms will precede the coldest temperatures of the season in a zone from the Midwest and over into the Northeast this week. The arrival of the Arctic air by late in the week will come on the heels of the latest parade of wintry impacts diving down from Canada. Here is a detailed look at the timing and likely impact areas of this week's batch of clipper storms.

More Clipper Storms Will Mark the Week Ahead

The clipper storm train that set up last week will continue to chug along in the days ahead, bringing more waves of snow to a large swath of the central and eastern U.S. In addition to the lake-effect snow, this northeastern quadrant of the U.S. will also be dealing with gusty winds through at least Thursday.

The most robust snow bands are forecast to set up over the northern Plains, the Midwest, and the northern Appalachians. As has been the case with most of the clipper storms this season, the worst of the snow will dissipate before reaching the major urban areas of the Interstate 95 corridor.

The week kicked off with a clipper storm that raced through the Upper Midwest and the interior Northeast on Sunday and Monday. Hundreds of flight delays and cancellations snarled travel up and down the East Coast on Sunday. For example, LaGuardia experienced 160 flight cancellations and over 430 delays on Sunday alone.
