The Midwest and the Northeast will see a little bit of everything in the days ahead as Mother Nature takes the region on a ride. Here is what you can expect heading into the new week.

More Seasonable October Weather Creeping Into the Midwest and the Northeast

Moisture is finally on the way for the Midwest and the Northeast, bringing an end to the dry conditions and summerlike warmth that have marked the last few weeks. A cold front pushing across the Plains and to the east will usher in weather that is more typical of October.

The cooler temperatures will feel even more dramatic on the heels of Sunday's heat. Record high readings were challenged across the Great Lakes and into the Northeast. This unseasonable warmth sent afternoon highs into the 80s, translating to readings that hovered as much as 25 degrees above the typical norm for early October.

This warming pattern will persist into Monday for parts of the northeastern U.S. However, a dramatic change is on the way with the arrival of the cold front that is currently bringing down the temperatures in the northern Plains.

High temperatures will slide as much as 20 degrees from Sunday's highs in metro areas such as Boston, Cleveland, and Pittsburgh.

It will be a great week to check out the fall foliage in New England and beyond. Widespread readings in the 50s and 60s will make it feel more like fall when compared to the last few weeks.
