New Arctic Air Mass Will Fuel More Chances of Wintry Precipitation in Days Ahead

Minor Winter Storms to Close Out Week Ahead of More Arctic Air
A fresh batch of Arctic air diving down from Canada will fuel another chance of snow and ice in a zone from the Midwest and into the Northeast over the next several days. It has been less than a week since a historic nor'easter unleashed blizzard conditions for millions of Americans.
The days that followed have featured multiple minor winter weather systems pushing across the northern third of the country. A fast-moving Alberta clipper storm sent the flakes flying across the Great Lakes and Northeast on Wednesday. Yet another weak storm delivered a rain and snow mix in a zone from South Dakota and into the Ohio Valley on Wednesday night.
This midweek storm tracked far enough south on Thursday to push the wintry precipitation over to rain thanks to the warmer temperatures. The track of this weather maker is now resulting in straight rain for the southeastern U.S. For example, it was a messy day in Atlanta as widespread rain and thunderstorms roamed the region.
