A new storm is waiting in the wings to impact the eastern U.S. by the end of the week, bringing heavy rain, windy conditions, and noticeably cooler temperatures. Here is a look at the continuation of the volatile weather pattern for much of the East Coast.

Latest Storm to Hit the Eastern U.S. Beginning Late Wednesday

A NOAA Weather Prediction Center map shows a developing storm system stretching from the Gulf Coast through the Appalachians and into the Northeast on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, bringing rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds across the region.

It has already been a rough week for a large swath of the eastern U.S. as a mild nor'easter brought rain and winds to the region. This storm pushed off the mid-Atlantic coastline late Tuesday; however, forecasters are warning that a new event will come in quickly behind. The latest storm system will roar into the Appalachians on Wednesday and Thursday. Rain will spread throughout the northeastern U.S., with some areas picking up the first snow of the season.

The exit of the compact nor'easter will batter the Atlantic coastline as stiff onshore winds create mild erosion. This is the same storm that dumped flooding rainfall across parts of Florida at the end of the weekend. The beach erosion hit some of the same stretches of coastline that have not yet recovered from the stormy summer and fall season.
