While most Americans are focused on preparing for Halloween, Thanksgiving is also right around the corner. Thanksgiving is one of the most traveled holidays of the year. The American Automobile Association (AAA) projected that almost 80 million people traveled over 50 miles from home during the Thanksgiving holiday travel period in 2024. The bulk of these travelers took to the road.

It is too early to offer precise forecasts for the holiday; however, The Old Farmer's Almanac is offering a preview of what to expect for the weather. Here is your first long-range forecast for Thanksgiving 2025.

Northeast and New England

One of the greatest chances of snow for the holiday will be across the northern reaches of New England. Conversely, the southern half of the Northeast region is expected to see sunny skies with cool temperatures. The Atlantic corridor is forecast to see mild temperatures to start the Thanksgiving holiday week, giving travelers a nice start when heading out on the roads. However, the mercury is likely to fall by Thanksgiving. According to the almanac, the sunny and dry conditions will stick around for the rest of the long weekend for most of the Northeast.
