At least 13 people have been confirmed dead after a powerful 6.9 magnitude earthquake rocked the central portion of the Philippines on Tuesday. The quake hit the islands on the heels of a monster cyclone last week. Here is the latest on this developing situation in Asia.

The Philippines Dealt a Double Whammy as an Earthquake Hits After a Cyclone

Tuesday's deadly earthquake in the Philippines hit near Calape shortly before 10 pm local time. According to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), the quake rattled an area to the west of Palompon near the city of Bogo in the province of Cebu. The epicenter was located approximately seven miles to the east-southeast of Calape, impacting the communities near Cebu and Tacloban. The latest report indicates that the quake occurred underwater at a depth of about 6 miles.
