Another active weather period is settling into the Pacific Northwest to start the week, raising the risk of flooding and avalanches. Read on for more details about the timing of these impacts in the days ahead.

Several Storms Lining Up in the Pacific

A parade of storms is marching in from the Pacific, targeting the northwestern corner of the U.S. this week. Forecasters are warning that the volatile weather pattern will usher in flooding and landslide concerns in addition to high winds in the mountains. Both air and road travel are likely to be impacted by the successive storms.

The moisture-packed storms will dump heavy rain and mountain snow throughout the week. A series of potent atmospheric rivers will lay the groundwork for the surge of moisture.

The 5-day rainfall outlook shows a plume of heavy moisture focused on western Washington and Oregon, with several inches of rain expected as multiple Pacific storm systems come ashore. (NOAA/WPC)
