PGA Championship Forecast at Aronimink Golf Club
One of the biggest professional golf events of the year starts Thursday. The 108th edition of the PGA Championship is taking place at the Aronimink Golf Club near Philadelphia through Sunday. Will the weather hold up for the premier tournament?
In short, the chance of rain will decrease as the tournament progresses, just as the temperatures increase. The forecast is shaping up nicely for the opening day. Golfers and spectators can expect a slight chance of an isolated rain shower in the morning or afternoon hours. Despite clearing skies in the afternoon, highs will top out in the low to mid 60s. Winds will only be a small factor, coming in from the northwest at speeds of 10 to 15 mph.
Friday will bring mostly dry conditions and temperatures that inch up into the low 70s. Winds will continue to be out of the northwest at 10 to 15 mph.
The release of the Omega blocking pattern in the Northeast will support the influx of significantly warmer temperatures into the region on Saturday. This will translate to temperatures that reach the upper 70s to low 80s. This is also the day when wind directions will shift, now expected to come in from the west-southwest at 5 to 10 mph.
The final day is expected to be the warmest. Highs will soar into the upper 80s with a chance of seeing the low 90s during the peak afternoon hours. Humidity levels will also be on the upswing, pairing with the intense sunshine to make it feel exceptionally steamy on the course. Spectators are being advised to drink plenty of water and bring along sunscreen when they head to Aronimink on Sunday.
