The distinctive rumble of thunder will be the soundtrack for much of the central U.S. this week as the storm train chugs along. The Plains and the Mississippi Valley will be the primary targets of this line of storms, packing high winds, hail, isolated tornadoes, and an elevated threat of flooding.

South-Central U.S. Remains the Focus of Severe Weather This Week

Every day this week will present a chance of rain showers and thunderstorms across a large swath of the south-central U.S. The usual impacts will come along with this threat, disrupting travel and raising the risk of power outages. While this is not expected to be a widespread tornado threat, you cannot rule out the chance of a twister or two in the most potent storm cells.

The biggest concern associated with this active weather pattern will be the threat of flash flooding in the southern tier of the impact zone. It has been a soggy stretch of days for this region of the country. Any additional rain will present the potential of localized flash flooding as grounds become overly saturated.

Tuesday's Storm Threat Includes 90 MPH Winds and Large Hail
