Parade of Winter Storms Lining Up as December Kicks Off
Right on time, the start of the meteorological winter on Monday, December 1, will feature a host of wintry impacts, ranging from frigid cold to snow to ice. The official arrival of winter will come on the heels of a massive storm that dumped snow across a large swath of the Midwest and into the interior Northeast in the days after Thanksgiving. Updated guidance now shows several shortwave systems lined up behind it, setting up multiple rounds of winter weather instead of just one.
The expansion of the cold air by the end of the week will result in a good chance of snow for the central Plains, the Ohio Valley, the mid-Atlantic, and New England beginning on Monday.
