First Clipper Storm of Duo Moving Across Central U.S. to End the Week
Millions of Americans from the Midwest to the Northeast are going to feel the impacts of two Alberta clipper storms in the days ahead. The effects of these storm systems include accumulating snow in a number of metro areas that have yet to see the flakes fly this season.
The pair of storms is forecast to dive down from Canada and into the northern Plains before racing through the Ohio Valley and over to the coast of the mid-Atlantic. Each of the two events is forecast to usher in measurable snow to a narrow swath of land stretching for up to 2,000 miles. While the storms are good news for skiers and snowboarders hoping for favorable conditions over the holidays, the snow will also trigger widespread travel impacts to a large region.
The most potent snow bands are expected to set up over Montana. The hardest-hit areas will see accumulations of 6 to 12 inches. Up to two feet of snow could fall in the higher terrains.
