An approaching storm system has the potential to produce a significant snow machine across areas of the Midwest and Northeast early next week, just days before Valentine’s Day.

Snow Machine to Replace Warm Temperatures

Meteorologists are monitoring the situation closely, as the storm strengthens while moving across the Central and Eastern states. A stripe of accumulating snow is likely to materialize, with the heaviest amounts targeted on the Appalachians and inland areas of the Northeast.

The inclement weather will be preceded by a temporary warmup across the region, as a southwesterly flow transports milder air northward.

However, this reprieve from winter’s cold will be short-lived, as the impending storm taps colder air and transitions rain to snow from west to east.

The ultimate track and intensity of the system will determine snow distribution and totals, but travel impacts are probable somewhere in the Midwest and Northeast Monday into Tuesday.
