Mother's Day Forecast: Soggy East, Sizzling West Across the U.S.
Christy Bowen
2 hours agoMother's Day is shaping up to be a tale of two halves of the country. The East faces rain, thunderstorms, and an isolated severe-weather risk, while the West bakes under a sunny, dry pattern with triple-digit heat in the Desert Southwest. Here is the city-by-city forecast to plan around.
Soaking Rain and Storms Across the South and Mid-Atlantic
Much of the eastern half of the country will be dodging rain and thunderstorms on Sunday. The most persistent rain sets up across the eastern Great Lakes, complicating outdoor plans for picnics or other activities.
Thunderstorms will be most widespread from central Texas through the Ohio Valley. The severe-weather risk also extends into the central Gulf Coast and across much of Georgia, with frequent lightning a key concern.
