It was a pleasant weekend for most of the Northeast, giving Mom plenty of reasons to celebrate on Mother's Day. However, the nice conditions are not expected to linger for long in this corner of the country. Here is a look at what to expect in the Northeast in the days ahead.

Mild and Dry Weekend Will Soon be in the Rearview Mirror for the Northeast

Forecasters are warning that more storms are lining up to march through the Northeast this week. The stormy conditions will come on the heels of what ended up being a nice Mother's Day weekend for the Northeast. It was a close call for many residents as the rain from last week cleared out just in time for the weekend.

The new work week brought a continuation of the dry days from the weekend. While the morning dawned on a chilly note, temperatures warmed up steadily into the early afternoon hours thanks to the plentiful sunshine. Enjoy the dry and warm conditions while they last, as the zone of high pressure currently parked over the region is set to break up shortly.

The same slow-moving storm system that has been delivering wave after wave of rain and thunderstorms across the Southeast in recent days is forecast to extend to the north up the coast and into the Northeast this week. This will translate to increasing chances of rain by the middle of the week for areas that have been dry as of late.
