A series of storms is going to usher in persistent moisture to the southern tier of the U.S. through at least the middle of January. Here is what you need to know about the soggy forecast to start 2024.

Stubborn Storm Track Setting Up Over Southern U.S.

The southern part of the country is in store for a soaker of a start to the new year with an active weather pattern setting up over the region. Although the storms will work to chip away at the ongoing drought, the stream of moisture will also increase the risk of flooding and other disruptions.

The first storm system on tap will push into the area by the middle of this week, bringing rain and thunderstorms to a number of communities. This weather maker will trigger wet weather across central portions of Texas beginning late Tuesday. The rain will move to the east and impact the Gulf Coast through at least Thursday.
