A series of severe storms are going to continue to take aim at the Plains states through the end of the week and into the weekend. Who will see the action and when will the storms strike? Read on for all of the details of this stormy forecast.

Great Plains Focus of Late Week Severe Weather Issues

Although another major tornado outbreak is not likely heading into the weekend, the Great Plains will still be dealing with widespread thunderstorm activity that could threaten lives and property in the coming days. The primary risks associated with this weather maker include strong winds, hail, and heavy rain that may create flash flooding concerns. While the tornado risk is not especially high, you cannot rule out the chance of an isolated twister or two.

The zone from the Mississippi River and over to the East Coast will likely be free of stormy conditions and rain thanks to a large area of cool and dry air that has set up over the eastern half of the nation. However, the middle of the nation from Texas and up through the Dakotas will be under the threat of severe storms through Thursday.

Thursday's afternoon and evening forecast is calling for widespread spotty storms. Some of the storms could linger through the overnight hours and well into Friday morning.
