While the relentless stormy pattern will linger into the start of the week for much of California, change is on the horizon in the days ahead. Read on for more information about what you can expect from Mother Nature this week in California and the rest of the West.

Monday's Moisture Will Transition to Drier Weather in California This Week

The rain and snow that ushered in the new year in California will have some staying power, but a drying trend is coming soon. The rainy pattern will persist for the bulk of coastal and Northern California through the end of the day Monday before the storm track lifts to the north and takes aim at the Pacific Northwest instead.

The moisture machine fired up late Sunday in and around Los Angeles. Up to an inch of rain is possible for the City of Angels by the time the system finally dissipates overnight. Motorists should prepare for slower commutes on Interstate 5 and beyond.
