Tasks to Put on Your List as Daylight Saving Ends
Christy Bowen
3 hours agoThe end of Daylight Saving Time is right around the corner. This time of transition is a great reminder to take care of basic home maintenance tasks.
Daylight Saving Time will end across most of the country on Sunday, November 2. Clocks will be set back one hour on this date. While adjusting the clocks is the primary task of the day, the biannual event is also a good opportunity to tackle a few important household tasks before the start of the winter season. Here are five things to check off your list as you set the clocks back one hour.
Replace Batteries in Smoke Detectors
There is nothing worse than being woken up in the middle of the night by a chirping smoke detector as the battery drains. You can avoid this nuisance by simply changing the smoke alarm batteries every time you adjust the clocks.
The National Fire Protection Association also recommends this practice with their "Change Your Clocks, Change Your Batteries" campaign. Most importantly, changing the batteries twice per year will ensure that your detectors are working as intended. This is also a good reminder to change the batteries in any carbon monoxide detectors. It only takes a few minutes to perform either of these tasks.
