Stark Warming Trend on Deck for the Eastern U.S.

Temperatures will surge to as much as 25 degrees above the historical average for early March across much of the Midwest and the Northeast in the days ahead. This pattern will usher in the warmest weather since October.

Some parts of the south-central U.S. have already experienced summerlike heat. It was less than a week ago that the mercury climbed to 106 degrees in southern Texas.
