The One Weather Sign That Summer Is Really Over
Jennifer Gaeng
7 hours agoEveryone watches for falling leaves or cooler temperatures to signal summer's end, but there's one weather sign that definitively proves summer is actually finished - and most people completely miss it.
It's not the first day you need a sweater or when stores start selling pumpkin spice everything. The real sign is way more subtle but absolutely reliable once you know what to look for.
Dew Point Changes Everything
The magic number is dew point, not temperature. When the dew point consistently drops below 60°F for several days, summer is officially over regardless of what the thermometer says.
Dew point measures how much moisture is in the air. Summer air feels sticky and oppressive because it's loaded with water vapor. When that moisture finally breaks, you get that crisp, comfortable feeling that screams "fall is here."
