A series of weather makers will bring the chance of measurable snow to much of the northern U.S. beginning on Wednesday. Forecasters have been monitoring this setup for days, now offering a more precise look at the timing and impacted areas of this pattern. Read on for all that you need to know about who should expect snow in the days ahead.

First of Three Winter Storms Already Rearing its Head

Snow, wind, and cold temperatures are getting ready to impact a large portion of the Great Lakes, the Ohio Valley, and the interior Northeast this week. A surge of Arctic air coming down from the north will fuel the development of the wintry precipitation. The addition of blustery conditions will bring the real feel readings down even further, creating the potential for hazardous wind chills.

The first system is making its way across the Midwest and the Great Lakes on Wednesday. This initial storm will bring a fresh round of snow to the Upper Midwest and the Great Lakes on Wednesday.

NOAA forecast map shows the first winter system pushing through the Midwest and Great Lakes on Wednesday, with snow spreading north of the cold front and mixed precipitation possible farther south as Arctic air pours in behind it.
