The central U.S. is beginning to thaw out after the early-season cold snap that gripped the region over the last several days. When will the eastern U.S. see the return to more moderate temperatures? Read on for all of the forecast details.

Those in the Plains states are going to experience a major weather whiplash as record-challenging warmth builds across the region in the coming days. Meanwhile, the eastern edge of the country is still dealing with frigid temperatures and wintry precipitation.

A northward bulge in the jet stream this week is going to usher in dramatically warmer temperatures for the Plains and the Mississippi Valley. The warmth will be a relief after the bitterly cold temperatures that started the week. Daily highs will hover in the 60s, 70s, and 80s in a zone from the Rockies and into the Plains. Several daily record highs could be challenged throughout Texas and Oklahoma on Wednesday.
